Quality Assurance Unit

Functions

The Quality Assurance Unit is an internal body responsible for overseeing the implementation of Quality Assurance (QA) procedures at the University level, within Study Programmes and Departments, in line with the guidelines set by the governing bodies in the University’s Quality Policies for teaching, research, and third mission, as well as in the University Strategic Plan. The Quality Assurance Unit:

  • promotes a culture of quality across the University
  • organizes and coordinates the execution of QA processes within the University, providing the necessary operational guidance and, where needed, relevant data and information
  • monitors that stakeholders within the QA system properly apply structured processes and assesses their effectiveness
  • plans and organizes QA training activities aimed both at spreading a culture of quality and at ensuring the responsible engagement of all system stakeholders, as well as providing support to ensure the adequate and consistent implementation of QA processes
  • ensures appropriate information flow among all parties involved in the University’s QA system
  • regularly reports to the governing bodies on the status of QA-related actions, highlighting improvements achieved, ongoing challenges, and planned actions

The Quality Assurance Unit prepares an annual report detailing the activities carried out, the results achieved, any ongoing challenges, and the activities planned for the following year. The report is approved by March 31 of each year and is submitted to the governing bodies and to the Evaluation Committee.

Composition

The University Quality Assurance Board, established by decisions of the Academic Council and the Board of Administration on 4 March 2013, is composed of between 5 and 7 members, selected from among university staff with specific expertise related to Quality Assurance. The Chair and members are appointed by rectoral decree, serve a three-year term, and may be renewed consecutively only once.
