The internship will be carried out at the operational sites of the Comunità di Sant'Egidio ACAP APS.

Intercultural mediation is a tool to promote the integration of foreign citizens in the community and to enhance diversity, recognized under Legislative Decree No. 286/1998, with particular reference to articles 38 and 42. Today, the professional role of the intercultural mediator is sought in various sectors, including but not limited to: education and training; cultural inclusion; civic participation; healthcare; justice and penal enforcement; access to social services and public administrations; administrative procedures related to immigration, citizenship, and asylum; and the use of universal public services.
To be admitted to the programme, you must:
- hold an upper secondary school diploma obtained in Italy or abroad
- have at least B1-level language proficiency (for non-Italian citizens only) and demonstrate cultural competency (for all applicants)
- Carefully read the admission notice for the programme
- By November 9, 2026, at 12:00 noon, submit your application for admission through the dedicated online procedure available on the Esse3WEB (Cineca) platform at: https://unistrapg.esse3.cineca.it.

IMPORTANT! In order to complete your application, you will need:
1. the details of your upper secondary school qualification, which you must declare in the “TITOLI DI ACCESSO” (Admission Qualifications) section;
2. the following documents, which you must upload in the “GESTIONE TITOLI E DOCUMENTI PER LA VALUTAZIONE” (Manage Qualifications and Evaluation Documents) section (in PDF, JPG, or PNG format):
- a valid identity document
- documentation of your upper secondary school qualification if obtained abroad
- a permit of stay in Italy if you are a citizen of a country outside the European Union, other than Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, San Marino and Vatican City, and are resident or domiciled in Italy. - Attend the language and cultural suitability interview
Selection interviews will be conducted by the Comunità di S. Egidio ACAP APS, at the headquarters in Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere, n.23 (Rome) on the following three dates:
- Thursday, November 26, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm
- Sunday, November 29, 2026, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm
- Thursday, December 3, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm
When completing your application, you must specify the date on which you wish to attend the interview. - Check your admission to the programme: the list of admitted candidates will be published on this page starting from December 16, 2026. Each candidate will also be able to view the competition results in their personal area on Esse3WEB.
- Complete your enrolment and pay the programme fee (EUR 200.00) by January 11, 2027 through your personal area on Esse3WEB.
The course consists of:
- 320 hours of classroom instruction, divided into 13 educational modules covering applied social sciences, legal and economic subjects, and historical-political subjects.
Classes will be held in person at the headquarters of the Comunità di Sant’Egidio ACAP APS (Via San Gallicano, no. 25/A – Rome). - 180 hours of internship.

What does the internship involve?
The internship takes place at the operational sites of Comunità di Sant’Egidio ACAP APS and may include the following types of activities:
- Reception and mediation at canteens and listening centers; medical hubs
- Outreach activities for people experiencing homelessness
- Support and guidance with administrative procedures related to immigration, residency, social security, as well as healthcare procedures
- Cultural mediation in family and school relations and within local communities, with particular attention to families with a migration background and older adults
Is attendance compulsory?
Attendance is compulsory for at least 70% of classroom activities and 70% of internship activities.
Are there assessments?
At the end of the course, there will be a written assessment covering the topics dealt with in the 13 educational modules.
At the end of the internship, students are required to submit a report on the activities undertaken, which will be discussed in a final interview.
Teaching activities will take place from 28 January to 7 November 2027.
Classes will be held on Sunday mornings and Thursday afternoons at the following times:
- Sunday, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm
- Thursday, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Upon completion of the course, the University for Foreigners of Perugia will issue the following certificates to participants:
- certificate of completion with the award of 40 ECTS credits for enrolled students who have met the attendance requirements and passed the assessments
- certificate of attendance without the award of ECTS credits for participants admitted without the required entry qualification
