IUPALS – Italian Universities for Palestinian Students
IUPALS is a special project offering university corridors and scholarships. The initiative is promoted by CRUI. The programme is implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of University and Research, and the Consulate General of Italy in Jerusalem.
The project was established in response to the humanitarian and wartime crisis in the Middle East, with the aim of ensuring the right to higher education for students residing in the Palestinian Territories. The programme enables them to complete a cycle of studies at Italian universities.
Since October 2025, two courses have been offered, attended by approximately 50 students in total. The courses were conducted online, featuring live sessions with instructors (120 hours) and additional asynchronous self-study materials (another 120 hours). The courses were organized through coordination among the participating universities (Università di Milano, Università per Stranieri di Siena, Università per Stranieri di Perugia, Università Roma TRE, Università Ca’ Foscari di Venezia) and overseen by CRUI.
The aim of the language courses is to support students in learning Italian for effective communication in an academic context.
