What steps are required to initiate a mobility period?
Students assigned an incoming mobility for study purposes within the framework of current international collaborations must be nominated by their home university by email to erasmus@unistrapg.it.
The nomination must:
- be sent by the relevant office or unit of the home institution;
- include the following information:
- student’s full name
- student’s date and place of birth
- student’s institutional email address
- planned mobility period
Once the nomination has been received, the Erasmus and International Mobility Office will:
- verify the eligibility for mobility activation;
- send the student an email with all the necessary information for the subsequent application procedure
To submit your application, you must send the following documents in .pdf format by email to erasmus@unistrapg.it:
- the Application Form, which you need to complete, print, and sign;
- the Learning Agreement, which you must complete, print, personally sign, and have signed and stamped by your home university;
- a copy of your identity document;
- a copy of a valid health insurance policy with adequate coverage for the entire mobility period, to be attached as a copy.
In addition to the above documents, you must also complete the online application for ordinary courses in Italian language and culture, which you can attend free of charge as an exchange student.
Once the above documentation has been received, the staff of the Erasmus and International Mobility Office at the University for Foreigners of Perugia will process the relevant checks and, if successful, will issue the official mobility acceptance letter.
Students who have successfully completed the application procedure will receive:
- approval of the Learning Agreement;
- the certificate of enrolment in the official Italian language and culture courses (issued by the relevant office);
- an email communication, sent by the Language Course Secretariat staff, containing your institutional credentials to be used during your mobility (student ID number, institutional email address, username, and password).
Upon receiving the certificate of enrolment, you will be responsible for fulfilling any requirements related to your permit of stay in Italy.

Below is the list of training modules offered in English.
Incoming international students under current international agreements are offered the opportunity to attend regular Italian language and culture courses free of charge for the entire duration of their mobility period. If interested, these courses must be included in the Learning Agreement.
The timetable for courses offered is officially published by the Departments in September (for autumn semester courses) and in February (for spring semester courses).
Once the timetables are published, it is strongly recommended that you promptly check the availability of the courses listed in your Learning Agreement in order to organize your weekly schedule.
Mobility tutors support Erasmus students in choosing and managing their academic pathway, both before and during their mobility period. Each Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD program has a specific tutor assigned. If needed, Erasmus students can contact their designated tutor directly using the institutional email address available in the following list.
Management of the Mobility Period
Your mobility period officially begins on the date you personally register your arrival at the University for Foreigners of Perugia by signing the arrival and registration log at the Erasmus and International Mobility Service (Palazzo Gallenga, first floor).
The date on which you sign the log will be considered the official start date of your mobility period, which typically coincides with the commencement date of the academic semester (please refer to the academic calendar section).
If it becomes necessary to make changes to the Learning Agreement, you may propose the required modifications—previously agreed upon with the mobility coordinator at your home university—within 30 days from the start date of your mobility period.
In this case, you must complete, sign, and send via e-mail to erasmus@unistrapg.it the document entitled "learning agreement during the mobility", which must be signed in advance by:
- yourself;
- the mobility coordinator at your home university.
If approved, the Learning Agreement will be signed by the coordinator at the Università per Stranieri di Perugia and sent to you via e-mail.
The end date of your mobility period must be communicated to the Erasmus and International Mobility Office staff (erasmus@unistrapg.it) at least one week before your departure. This allows, where possible, for the preparation of your final documentation, which will include:
- mobility certificate;
- Transcript of Records.
PLEASE NOTE: The end date of your mobility period must coincide with one of the following:
- the date of your last recorded exam;
- the date of your last attended lesson;
- the date of your last visit to the Erasmus and International Mobility Office
