Bachelor’s Degree in Italian Language and Culture in the Digital World (LiCIMoD)

• develop a solid foundational, methodological, and historical education in linguistic, philological, and literary studies within class L-10, with specific reference to the history, structure, variation, and uses of the Italian language
• gain knowledge of the history and genres of Italian literature from its origins to the contemporary era, and be able to analyze texts from linguistic, stylistic, and rhetorical perspectives, as well as to study their relationship with cinema, music, and other media (linguistic-philological-literary area)
• provide essential knowledge in the fields of history, geography, and arts, with specific reference to Italy’s position within the context of European and global history and culture (geographical and historical-artistic area)
• acquire basic competencies in language teaching (glottodidactics) and in teaching Italian both as a first and a second language, and be able to transmit Italian language, literature, and culture to diverse audiences, both Italian and international (Italian teaching area)
• demonstrate written and oral proficiency in at least one European Union language other than Italian (English, Spanish, or French), including in subject-specific contexts
• communicate clearly and persuasively, both in writing and orally, adapting style and medium to different audiences, including web writing
• develop intercultural competencies to work and collaborate with people from different languages and cultures, also thanks to the international environment of the programme
• use digital tools related to the humanities, including a critical approach to Artificial Intelligence, in order to study, communicate, promote, and teach Italian language and culture

For the Digital Track, the specific objectives are:

• achieve a solid foundational education in literature, linguistics, language teaching, history, philology, and Italian arts from a digital perspective
• possess knowledge of IT tools for the humanities, information architecture, and user experience, for studying, promoting, and teaching the Italian language and culture in the digital world
• acquire basic knowledge of HTML, TEI annotation, coding, corpus linguistics, and humanities applications of Artificial Intelligence, including assisted writing

For the Cultural Track, the specific objectives are:

• achieve a solid foundational education in literature, linguistics, language teaching, philology, music, film, and Italian arts from both a historical and international perspective, in order to study, teach, and promote Italian culture in Italy and abroad with a multicultural vision
• deepen historical, geographical, and artistic knowledge, also through digital geography, from a European and global perspective
• acquire basic knowledge of a language and civilization that is culturally distant (Arabic or an East Asian language)

Graduates in Italian Language and Culture in the Digital World will be able to pursue careers in Italy and abroad in the following professional fields:

Digital Curriculum

• public institutions, cooperatives and companies engaged in the management and promotion of cultural content
• education and training providers: e-learning and applications of information, communication and Artificial Intelligence technologies in learning processes
• cultural heritage: creation and management of archives, digital libraries, virtual museums, information retrieval
• digital publishing, companies and projects developing software and linguistic and textual resources (corpora, text archives)
• universities (e-learning, educational management)
• public administrations, companies and foundations: internal and external communication, content management for the web and social media, staff training (e-learning)
• production of multimedia content for cinema, music and new media

Cultural Curriculum

• publishing, public institutions, cooperatives and companies engaged in the management and promotion of cultural content
• teaching Italian language and culture to foreigners and Italians in public and private bodies or in associations and non-profit organisations, in foreign institutions, as well as in Italian diplomatic offices
• linguistic and cultural mediation in schools, public bodies, and reception services, in Italy and abroad
• consultancy for institutions engaged in promoting the Italian language and culture
• foundations and public administrations: promotion and organisation of cultural events, festivals and exhibitions, enhancement of historical and cultural heritage
• cultural tourism: agencies, both Italian and international, promoting Italy and its heritage

Students enrolled in the LiCIMoD degree program can opt for a double degree pathway thanks to two active agreements:

• Framework agreement for international academic cooperation between the University of Tirana and the Università per Stranieri di Perugia aimed at awarding a joint three-year degree in "Lingua e Cultura Italiana nel Mondo Digitale" (LiCIMoD) from the Università per Stranieri di Perugia and the corresponding degree from the University of Tirana
• Framework agreement for international academic cooperation between Université de Lorraine Nancy and the Università per Stranieri di Perugia aimed at awarding a joint three-year degree in "Lingua e Cultura Italiana nel Mondo Digitale" (LiCIMoD) from the Università per Stranieri di Perugia and the licence in "Langues, Littératures, Civilisations Etrangères et Régionales" (LLCER), Italian Track, Teaching Professions Option from Université de Lorraine
