Presentation of Antonella Valoroso's book

Millions of people cross the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge every year or admire its majestic structure in photographs taken during the New York Marathon. Yet, most likely, the majority of them are unaware of the complex stories behind its name. This book aims to tell those stories through a tapestry of narratives: the story of how an almost forgotten Tuscan navigator became a symbol of Italian prestige and pride; of how a community, marginalized in many ways, managed to assert its place in the founding myth of New York; and of how farsighted, at times visionary diplomacy was able to imagine and weave lasting bonds between peoples and cultures.
