Admission to Bachelor's Degree Courses for Non-EU Students Residing Abroad
Enrollment is considered complete following evaluation by the University, after:
- verification of the authenticity of the submitted documentation and fulfillment of the admission requirements
- completion of the entrance examination
- payment of university tuition fees
- presentation of the Visa and residence permit
For students enrolling in a Master’s degree program, prior assessment by the Degree Program Office of the required academic qualifications is mandatory.
For non-EU international students residing abroad (visa applicants) who are not exempt from the Italian language proficiency test as per the aforementioned Italian Ministry circular, an Italian language proficiency test at level B2 of the CEFR is required, in addition to any entrance examinations required of all Italian and international students.
The Italian language proficiency test (Level B2) is organized directly by the University and is intended exclusively for those wishing to enroll in Bachelor's and Master's degree programs at the University for Foreigners of Perugia, in order to satisfy the Italian language requirement and to assess candidates’ ability to engage with university-level study and content.
The examination schedule is communicated directly to students who have completed their registration on Universitaly.
The test consists of an online interview/test with a board of faculty members appointed by the departments.
All candidates holding a qualification equivalent to an upper secondary school diploma, obtained after 12 years of schooling, are eligible for admission to bachelor’s degree programmes.
Candidates holding a secondary school diploma after 10 or 11 years of schooling must submit, in addition to their secondary school diploma, academic certification confirming that, in the case of 11 years of schooling, all the examinations required for the first year of university in their home country have been successfully completed, or, in the case of 10 years of schooling, all the examinations required for the first two years of university in their home country have been successfully completed.
The academic certification allows enrolment in the first academic year and possible abbreviation of the university career only if the length of university attendance exceeds the period needed to supplement the missing years of schooling.
Candidates from countries that require a special university entrance examination (academic eligibility test) must submit, in addition to their secondary school diploma, certification of the entrance examination, including the grade obtained.
Documents to be submitted to the University with the application for pre-enrolment in bachelor’s degree programmes
- original final upper secondary school diploma, stating the final grade or a substitute certificate valid for all legal purposes; certificate attesting to the passing of the academic eligibility test, if required
- certificate of partial academic studies completed, if the qualification was obtained after less than 12 years of schooling or if an abbreviation of the programme is requested (in this case, the certificate must specify the passed examinations and be accompanied by official documentation of the syllabi for those examinations)
- Italian language diplomas or certificates
- 2 recent colour passport photos, one of which must be authenticated by the competent Italian Diplomatic Authority
- photocopy of a valid identity document
- Dichiarazione di valore*
*The Dichiarazione di valore, which must be requested from the Italian Diplomatic Authority in the home country, is a certificate that verifies and confirms that the holder’s upper secondary school diploma grants admission to university courses in the country where it was obtained.
All documents in a foreign language required for the application must be legalised by the Italian Diplomatic Authority and translated into Italian.
The translation may be carried out by local translators, but students must obtain certification of the translation’s conformity from the competent Italian Diplomatic Authority.
All admitted international students, like Italian students, must attend a non-selective interview to assess their individual academic preparation. This interview should not be confused with the Italian language proficiency test.
Information on participation procedures, dates and locations for the interview can be requested from the Degree Programme Office.
All candidates holding a university degree equivalent to the Italian first-level bachelor’s degree are eligible for admission to master’s degree programmes.
Required Documentation
- Academic Qualifications
- Certificate or equivalent document, along with its Italian translation, relating to the upper secondary school diploma obtained in the applicant’s home country. The certification must specify: the name of the diploma, the institution where it was awarded, the year of completion, and the length of schooling required for obtaining the diploma. Please note that, according to Italian regulations, to be admitted to university, the qualification obtained abroad must represent at least twelve years of schooling. Furthermore, if an academic eligibility test is required in the student’s country to access university (e.g. GaoKao), the certification must indicate whether or not such eligibility tests have been passed.
- Certificate or equivalent document, along with its Italian translation, attesting to university studies undertaken if the above diploma was obtained after fewer than twelve years of schooling (at least one year of university must be completed if schooling is eleven years, or two years if schooling is ten years).
- Italian Language Proficiency
- Certificate or equivalent document, along with its Italian translation, concerning knowledge of the Italian language, stating the level achieved and the institution where the certification was awarded.
- Curriculum vitae
- Copy of a valid identity document (passport)
All required documents must be provided in Italian.
The letter of eligibility for enrolment will specify the documentation (such as the Declaration of Value, etc.) relevant to the qualification required for admission to the chosen programme, which the student must submit in original form upon arrival in Perugia.
The Declaration of Value, to be requested from the Italian Diplomatic Representation in your country, is a certificate that verifies and confirms that the upper secondary school qualification held enables admission to university courses in the country in which it was obtained.
All admitted international students, like Italian students, must undergo an interview (non-selective), distinct from the Italian language proficiency test, to assess personal preparation.
