Informational seminars in collaboration with the Consortiums for the protection of PDO and PGI products
The MICO Degree Programme – Made in Italy, Food and Hospitality aims to provide both a cultural education on Made in Italy and the practical and technical skills needed to work in Made in Italy enterprises as well as the food, gastronomy, and hospitality sectors. The MICO degree, the only interdisciplinary programme in Italy that combines Tourism Sciences with Gastronomy Sciences, Cultures, and Policies, seeks to train professionals capable of promoting and enhancing the unique quality and excellence of Italian style worldwide. Graduates of MICO become true “Ambassadors of Made in Italy”, with an interdisciplinary and systemic approach that integrates cultural, technical, managerial, and scientific skills across the fields of food, tourism, and hospitality.
Protection Consortia and Qualivita will contribute to the development of this professional profile by providing the tools required to appropriately and effectively promote PDO and PGI products—the symbols of Italian agri-food excellence at the international level. The programme offers an in-depth overview of the main production districts in the PDO economy and highlights the activities that companies, consortia, and institutions undertake to safeguard and enhance the national heritage of Geographical Indications.
The seminar series is organised as part of the Food Geography Laboratory, coordinated by Prof. Luigi Mundula, and is intended for students enrolled in the MICO programme.
However, in-person participation is open to all students and faculty members of the University.
