Gentes - Journal of Human and Social Sciences

With Gentes, a new online digital publishing system is launched, aiming to disseminate the results of scientific research conducted by professors, researchers, and scholars from various disciplinary fields, in an exchange of methodologies and approaches that are only apparently divergent.

Gentes, the annual peer-reviewed journal, stems from the experience of the Department of Human and Social Sciences at the University for Foreigners of Perugia, where the proximity of different fields of knowledge has become an opportunity for a critical sharing of methodologies belonging to disciplines within Area 10, from Literature, to Linguistics, to Art History, and Semiotics.

The journal primarily aims to create a space for interdisciplinary discussion, encouraging the publication of articles reporting on research carried out through the merging of disciplinary fields belonging to the macro-field of “Human and Social Sciences.” Gentes features three sections designed to translate and guide the dialogue among different areas of knowledge. In “Interdisciplinary Visions,” contributions that address interdisciplinarity or present the results of research based on a multi-perspective approach are welcomed.

“Language Communication Workshops” is dedicated to languages and language as a tool for communication, as well as to ongoing projects and studies on language learning and acquisition, also from a didactic perspective. In “Strategies and Practices of Contemporary Cultures,” aspects of individual disciplinary fields are explored from a perspective that prioritizes contemporaneity as the main temporal context, seeking to give voice to new theories and methods of study, and to open new avenues of research.
