Acquisition and use of discourse markers in academic speech by learners of Italian as a second language

The project aims to study the acquisition of discourse markers by L2 Italian students participating in international mobility programs. Discourse markers play a fundamental role in the development of pragmatic competence and, for this reason, can be considered a class of elements for which it is useful to investigate the acquisition process. In the initial stages, a corpus of texts will be compiled, which will subsequently be analyzed in an attempt to identify stages of acquisition.

Research Interests

My research interests mainly concern second language learning and the use of technology in teaching. The latter point will also play a fundamental role in my doctoral studies, which include a research program on sustainability and digital language teaching.
