Biographical Note

Associate professor at the Department of International Human and Social Sciences at the University for Foreigners of Perugia, he carries out his research and teaching activities in the field of sociology of culture and media. He was educated at the University of Perugia, where he obtained a PhD in Theories and Research on Politics (2016), later furthering his education with a master’s degree in Data Science at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” (2017).

After his PhD, he conducted research at the Department of Political Science at the University of Perugia as part of the European project ANTICORRP – Anticorruption Policies Revisited. Global Trends and European Responses to the Challenge of Corruption (2016-2017). He later was a research fellow at the University for Foreigners of Perugia (2017-2019) and at the Department of Arts of the Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna (2020-2021). From 2022 to 2025, he held the position of fixed-term researcher type B (RTD-B) at the Department of International Human and Social Sciences at the University for Foreigners of Perugia, where since October 1, 2025, he is Associate Professor.

His research interests lie at the intersection of politics, culture, communication, and media, with particular attention to the processes of production, legitimization, and circulation of knowledge and symbolic-cultural goods in the public sphere, understood as a place for the negotiation and conflict of the meanings that guide social experience.

His research has explored the role of traditional and digital media and journalism in debates on controversial issues such as immigration, corruption, and ecological transition. He has also dedicated himself to the study of the process of regionalization of social sciences (SSH), deepening in particular the role of thematic research projects sponsored by the EU as a tool for coordinating scientific activities at the European level. He is currently focusing on the relationship between memory, writing, and social recognition, investigating how socio-autobiographical and narrative practices can become critical tools for processing experience and questioning the symbolic hierarchies that structure contemporary social experience.

He has participated in national and international projects and carried out a visiting period as a chercheur invité at the Centre européen de sociologie et de science politique (CESSP-CNRS-EHESS-Université Paris 1, 2023).

He is the author of two monographs – Bourdieu, Latour and the Sociology of Journalism (Orthotes, 2024) and The Europe of Knowledge (FrancoAngeli, 2022) – and numerous articles in top-tier, peer-reviewed journals. He is a member of the editorial board of the journal Comunicazione Politica (ComPol), of the editorial staff of Quaderni di Teoria Sociale (QTS), and of the Scientific Committee of the RILES Study Center.

At the university, he is President of the Joint Teaching-Student Committee of the SUSI Department, a member of the Quality Assurance Group for the Degree Course in International and Advertising Communication (ComIP), and of the faculty board of the PhD in Frontier Sciences in Sustainability, Diplomacy and International Cooperation.
