Durata: 

The project aims to improve the contribution of businesses to the objectives of the National Strategy for Sustainable Development (SNSvS) through the creation of a specifically developed assessment framework. This will make it possible to measure the impact of corporate actions in achieving the SNSvS goals, facilitating decisions based on real data and promoting sustainable practices. An appropriate tool will be created for assessment both by organizations and for self-assessment by companies. To this end, the project will define a system of indicators that will be structured into a synthetic index capable of expressing a value judgment, calculated through dedicated software. The framework will be tested on companies within the production sector, to evaluate its applicability and usefulness. At the same time, ongoing training initiatives will be set up to enable companies to improve their performance in terms of sustainability.

Attività / Fasi del progetto: 

To achieve the general objective, four specific objectives will contribute, each corresponding to a related action:

  1. to identify the sources and assess the quality of existing data, and to define a set of indicators capable of monitoring companies’ performance in relation to the objectives of the SNSvS
  2. to test the framework by applying it to a sample of businesses representative of key sectors of the Umbrian regional and national economy
  3. to design long-term training initiatives involving businesses in the Umbrian region, with the aim of strengthening awareness and skills regarding sustainability
  4. to disseminate the project’s results through communication and outreach activities, highlighting the crucial role of businesses in achieving the objectives of the SNSvS and in the transition towards more sustainable economic models

The University for Foreigners of Perugia is assigned both the coordination of action 3 and support to the other project partners in implementing actions 1, 2, and 4. The University will take on the role of coordinator for Action 3 through Prof. Asdrubali (Full Professor – IIND-07/B), assisted by Prof. Chiara Biscarini (Full Professor – SSD CEAR-01/B) and Prof. Maura Marchegiani (Associate Professor – SSD GIUR-09/A).

Risultati attesi: 

  • Creation of a framework of indicators and subsequent development of an application that will enable self-assessment and evaluation of business sustainability, allowing the analysis of company activities' impact with respect to the principles of the National Strategy for Sustainable Development
  • Promotion of a culture of sustainability within companies in the Umbria region through innovative and diversified tools and training programs, tailored to the roles involved
  • Self-assessment and evaluation of the three dimensions of business sustainability
  • Support in drafting the sustainability report, a document increasingly requested and important for business competitiveness
  • Assessment of companies' contribution to achieving the goals of the National Strategy for Sustainable Development
  • Production of guidelines for improving sustainability in certain production environments
