The course offers a journey through twentieth-century Italian history and culture, focusing on the figure of Maria Montessori and the role of cinema as a tool for interpreting social and cultural changes.
Through the viewing and analysis of films and television works, along with the study of historical documents and texts, students will explore some significant milestones of Italian history from the beginning of the century to the Fascist period, with particular attention to the representation of society and female figures.
The course is organized around three central themes – diversity, women's emancipation, and the figure of the teacher – which provide an opportunity to delve deeper into both the historical-cultural context and the thought and work of Maria Montessori, considered a key figure in educational innovation and a cultural icon of the twentieth century.
The course will end with a final oral exam covering the main topics addressed during the lessons.
