The institutional meeting, as part of the "ITALYOU - Italy in your future" project, took place on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the Farnesina.
This year as well, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) is supporting the project "ITALYOU – Italy in Your Future", which allows students from African countries to attend the master’s degree course in "Italian for Teaching to Foreigners" (Itas) at the University for Foreigners of Perugia. The project promotes the Italian language and culture around the world and aims to train future Italian teachers in Africa.
Yesterday, March 4, 2026, the institutional visit of the University for Foreigners of Perugia took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI). Alongside the ITALYOU scholarship recipients from Algeria, Cameroon, Egypt, Morocco, Senegal, and Tunisia, the Unistrapg delegation included the Rector, Prof. Valerio De Cesaris, Prof. Sandra Covino, President of the master's degree course in "Italian for Teaching to Foreigners" (Itas), Valentina Seri from the International Relations Service, Mario Coffa from the Third Mission Service, job placement and student services, and Sara Nasini from the Communications Service.
They were welcomed at the Farnesina by Filippo La Rosa, Deputy Director General for Growth and Promotion of Exports and Central Director for the Promotion of Italophony, Culture and Territories of MAECI, Giulia Campeggio, head of Office VII of the same Directorate-General, and Matteo Pardini, together with the entire staff. At the heart of the meeting were the study experiences and aspirations of the students who, thanks to this opportunity, will become ambassadors of the Italian language and culture in their home countries.
The meeting was framed by a visit to the Farnesina Collection, a selection of highly significant works from the 20th and 21st centuries in Italian art history, which represent an important tool of cultural diplomacy and accompany the Ministry’s initiatives with the artistic strength of their message.
A few days ago, the Rector met, in the Aula Magna of Palazzo Gallenga, with a group of the 2025/2026 scholarship recipients who attended the first semester classes and have just completed their first exam session. The meeting was an opportunity for the students to share their experiences in Perugia and express their satisfaction with the services provided by the University and the city, such as linguistic and educational tutoring, the university canteen, local transportation, as well as to discuss challenges faced and consider appropriate solutions.
