Securitizing the Arctic: A New Priority for NATO. Arctic Security Through the Lens of NATO’s European Non-Arctic States

My research focuses on Arctic security, with particular attention to NATO. Using the Copenhagen School framework, my project analyzes NATO’s narrative regarding Arctic security in order to understand and justify the "extreme measures" adopted by the Alliance in recent years. The analysis will particularly focus on the roles and narratives of certain European NATO member states, which are not Arctic but fundamental, and have significant strategic and economic interests in the Arctic—especially in light of the reshaping of the international geopolitical landscape that affects the region and the impact of climate change on the present and future economic dimension.
