Master's Degree Course in Italian for Teaching to Foreigners (ItaS)

course postcard

The Master’s degree course in Italian for Teaching to Foreigners trains teachers of Italian as a Foreign/Second Language (LS/L2) and cultural operators, prepared to carry out their work in educational and university institutions, both public and private, in Italy and abroad, as well as in local authorities and international organizations that work for the integration and inclusion of migrant minors and adults or for the promotion of Italian language and culture worldwide. The course is aimed both at foreign students interested in teaching Italian and promoting Italian culture and civilization in their country of origin, and at Italian students who wish to work in the field of teaching Italian to foreigners, either abroad or in Italy.

The study course is structured into two curricula: Linguistic (ItaS-L) and Cultural Identity (ItaS-C), which include a common core of educational activities in the following disciplinary areas: Italian language for teaching to foreigners; language teaching methodology and educational linguistics (theories, principles and models); methods and techniques for teaching Italian as a second language; history of the Italian language, literature, and philology.

In the Linguistic curriculum, the student will also acquire knowledge of a distant language (Chinese, Arabic, or Japanese) and will focus their training and the development of practical skills in specific areas and fields of theoretical and applied linguistics.

In the Cultural-identity curriculum, the student will deepen their theoretical training, increasing practical and research skills, in the most significant sectors of our cultural tradition, in relation to the historical factors that are cohesive for national identity and its projection abroad.
