Double degree Italo-French Master's CIMEPIC and French Master 1 MCCI (University of Nantes)

Students of the University for Foreigners of Perugia participating in the double degree program acquire:

  1. in the first year, 30 credits at the University of Nantes by attending the first semester of the ‘Master 1 Médiation Culturelle et Communication Internationale - Italian program’ and 30 credits in the second semester at their home university (if they wish to obtain the intermediate Master 1 degree at the University of Nantes, they will defend a thesis at the University of Nantes at the end of the first year)
  2. in the second year, they acquire 30 credits at their home university and 30 credits at the University of Nantes.
The completion of the CIMEPIC double degree requires a total of 120 ECTS credits.

Students must hold a bachelor’s degree or a three-year university diploma, or another academic qualification obtained abroad that is recognized as suitable, and have a good knowledge of the French language, at least at level C1 of the CEFR.

To access the second year of mobility abroad, students must have acquired the 60 credits required for the first year by September 30th of the first year of the program.

Students who have not managed to acquire all 60 credits by the June session of the first year are exceptionally allowed to use the July and September sessions for the 30 credits from the second semester of the first year (the 30 credits from the first semester in Nantes must instead have been completed on schedule). Students who do not manage to acquire the 60 required credits by September 30th of the first year will not be able to access the second year.

Students enrolled in CIMEPIC who wish to obtain the Master 1 degree at the University of Nantes at the end of the first year must comply with the deadlines and regulations established by the French university, which requires the attainment of 60 credits (including the thesis, which must be discussed between June and September 30th of the first year).

The methods of assessing achievement are those established by the two partner Universities within their respective study programs.

Students must carry out their mobility at the University of Nantes in the first semester of the first year and take part of their exams in written form in French.

The final thesis can be written in Italian or French, as agreed with the supervisor. Students must, in any case, also present a comprehensive summary of their work in the other language.

In order to compensate for some structural differences relating to the organization of the study program:

  • The thesis exam (a total of 15 ECTS) is discussed at the end of the second year
  • Students wishing to obtain the Master 1 degree in France will present a thesis for 6 credits in the first year (in Italian or French, with a commission from the University of Nantes) and, in the second year, a more extensive thesis for 9 credits in Italian or French.
  • In the second semester of the second year, students who have not obtained the Master 1 degree, are doing their mobility in France, and are engaged in an internship, will be awarded 15 credits.
  • Students who have obtained the intermediate Master 1 degree at Nantes in the first year and have already discussed the first-year thesis (6 credits) will do their mobility in the second semester in Nantes engaged in an internship for 21 credits.
