The course is aimed at both Italian students and foreign students with an adequate knowledge of the Italian language, who are interested in studying, teaching, and promoting Italian culture and civilization.
Through this course of study, students develop a solid foundation in the following areas: literary linguistic-philological, geographical and historical-artistic, and the teaching of Italian; at the same time, students acquire IT skills applied to the humanities and to the teaching of language, which meet the emerging needs of the job market. Thus, critical knowledge characteristic of the humanities is combined with the technical skills typical of scientific knowledge, in order to foster development that integrates knowing, personal growth, and practical skills.
The humanities content is approached from an international perspective, thanks also to courses in Chinese language and culture and Arabic language and civilization, and through the two tracks into which the study plan is divided: digital and cultural.
The course represents the first step in a program of study that has distinguished this university since its origins, as an ambassador of the Italian language and culture around the world. LiCIMoD graduates have the opportunity to deepen the skills acquired either through the master’s degree in Teaching Italian to Foreigners or via the master’s program dedicated to teaching Italian as a non-native language.
Students have the opportunity to undertake an internship within the Italian language and culture courses for foreigners, which are held at the University, as well as at other institutions and private organizations involved in the promotion and enhancement of cultural content.
The study program requires students to obtain some of the credits in the specific academic fields needed for admission to the class enabling the teaching of Italian to foreigners in Italian public schools (class A-23, Italian language for non-native speakers). Those wishing to complete the acquisition of credits can continue this path with the ITAS master’s degree.
