From knowing ...to knowing how to do

The new MIUR Guidelines, drawn up according to the provisions of Law no. 145 of December 30, 2018, have renamed and restructured the “School-Work Alternation” programs (Legislative Decree no. 77 of April 15, 2005) as “Paths for Transversal Skills and Orientation” – PCTO.
Through practical experience, the PCTO allows high school students to consolidate and enrich the knowledge already acquired at school by testing their personal aptitudes in the field, thereby further supporting personal development and guidance in choosing their future educational path.
According to current regulations, PCTOs remain a mandatory experience with the following minimum duration:
- 210 hours in the final three years of professional institutes
- 150 hours in the second two-year period and the final year of technical institutes
- 90 hours in the second two-year period and the fifth year of high schools
The University for Foreigners of Perugia continues to take part in the implementation of these programs for guidance purposes, planning and carrying out activities, as scheduled and defined in individual training plans, within its own administrative facilities and laboratories. These activities are coordinated and supervised by the Orientation Service.

To carry out internships at the University for Foreigners of Perugia, you must follow the procedures required by current law and, in compliance with safety regulations, draw up appropriate agreements and training projects.
In order to correctly start the aforementioned internships, it is necessary to organize, either within the Institutes or at the University, thematic orientation seminars and training meetings with staff from the Orientation Service, designed for possible internship periods.
The applications submitted by individual Institutes are evaluated by the Orientation Service based on the availability of the University offices and the training project activities they propose. For each department, a specific training project is drawn up, signed by both the Institute tutor and the University tutor (the head of the University department's service). Priority for internship placement is given to schools with which there is an established record of collaboration and orientation activities.
