Interlibrary loan and document delivery

Users can obtain books and articles not available in the Library's bibliographic catalog thanks to the national and international interlibrary loan service (ILL - InterLibrary Loan) and the document delivery service (D.D. - Document Delivery).

Italian or foreign libraries can request books on loan from the Library.

These services provide broad access to national and international scientific documentation.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

  • allows you to request books from Italian and foreign libraries
  • enables the University Library to lend books it owns to external libraries

Document Delivery (D.D.)

  • allows you to request articles or essays from Italian and foreign libraries
  • enables the Library to supply articles or essays to external libraries, within the limits established by copyright law

  • anyone who, even temporarily, but for a period longer than 30 days, carries out teaching or research activities at the University

To access the service, users must:

  1. hold a library services membership card. If you do not have one, fill in the appropriate application form
  2. check that the documents to be requested are not already held by the University Library, by consulting the appropriate OPAC (book catalog) or the ACNP Catalog (journal catalog)

For students and PhD candidates without a scholarship, the service is free of charge.

For all other user categories, reimbursement of shipping costs and any fees required by the supplying libraries is requested (the user will be informed of these costs in advance).

Collection takes place at the reading room - Valitutti Building, 1st floor.

Users are notified of the document’s arrival by email.

Users agree to:

  • respect copyright regulations
  • not provide copies of the received documents to others
  • use the documents received exclusively for research or personal study purposes
  • return the volumes within the specified time period

The volumes are available for home loan, unless otherwise indicated by the lending library.

Sanctions are foreseen in the case of:

  • late return of books, failure to collect requested documents:
suspension from the interlibrary loan and document supply service for 30 days, starting from the due return date
  • failure to return borrowed volumes:
indefinite suspension from external loan services, interlibrary loan, and document supply, and notification to the Degree Program Office
  • loss or damage of the borrowed volume:
replacement with another copy of the same edition or payment to the interlibrary loan service of an amount equal to its cost. Until replacement or payment, the user is suspended from external loan, interlibrary loan, and document supply services

Each user can request up to a maximum of 5 volumes and 5 articles (document delivery) per month.
